INTRODUCTION:
Boxer, James J. Braddock was later nicknamed Cinderella man after his come back.
Wife, Mae Braddock always worrying when there will be a time when he will get hurt badly.
They had three children together. She also had a sister that would visit.
James's best friend was Mike Wilson, that died during the depression.
~Mainly, Braddock is living during the period of the Great Depression, and he is struggling to support his family after his career goes down hill.
FINANCIAL PROBLEMS:
- Jimmy lost everything he had due to the stock market crash, including a large house. Now, they live in like a small shack.
- He searches for jobs but it's very hard because many other people are searching for jobs too. So, they all go to a gate, and have to wait to get "picked" to work only that day. Tomorrow is the same process.
- His whole family is struggling not having enough food to eat and money to pay the bills.
STILL NOT SO WELL:
- Jimmy breaks his hand fighting, so this means it will be harder for him to get a job. If they see he has a cast on they wont pick him to work because they don't want to be slowed down. So he covers it up with shoe polish so it blends in.
- Then, he ends up asking for relief money to get the kids back, & to pay the light bill.
COME BACK:
- He has a couple of rough fights, but his coach is willing to pull through so he sells almost everything he has (this is what Mae stumbles upon as she knocks on his door) and wants to get him back in the game.
- People do not think he can last in any fight because they say he's "an old man."
- But somehow, he ends up determined to win the fights, and he changes and this is when his come back starts to be in affect.
BRADDOCK VS.?:
- He gets one big fight, and when he wins that fight, many other fights follow after.
- His wife is scared he might get hurt. Yeah, she supports him, but she doesn't want anything to happen to him to where he's gone in her and her kids lives.
- These fights were something big because he was getting paid and started to get back on track paying all of his bills.
MAX BAER (BE VERY AFRAID):
- Braddock moves on to become the heavyweight champ, but the only one left to fight was the other "champ" Max Baer.
- People warm him not to go through with the fight due to the fact that he killed two men in the rink. But, he goes through with it anyway.
- His wife Mae is scared because it has come to the time where his life is really threatened and he might die she says.
- Baer insults Braddock and his wife at a restaurant before the fight, and Mae throws a drink on him.
- The fight comes around, and it's a very tough fights. But ofcourse, Braddock wins and becomes the new heavy weight champ, with millions of screaming fans supporting him and calling him an inspiration.
FAIRY TALE:
- Braddock pays his relief money back to the helping people.
- He pays all his bills off because he can afford it now.
- Braddock moves on to do great things.
- He buys a big house for the family and now the family is happy.
- They live well for the rest of their lives.
Everything worked out for them, and although the hard times they went through it was okay because they still have each other and they are one big happy family. - Great movie by the way. :)
