THE SCOPES TRIAL: John Scopes, a high school Biology teacher was put on trial for teaching evolution.
PROHIBITION: This was to stop alcohol in the United States because husbands would come home drunk and abuse their families for example. The 18th amendment was the prohibition amendment, it banned manufacture, consumption, and sale of liquor which the IRS enforced.
FLAPPERS: A "new breed" of women who had short hair, smoked and drank in public. She wore sleeveless, short dresses and showed cleavage and legs. Basically, women who were rebels.
ECONOMIC ISSUES:
~Economics suffered with income taxes being the lowest for those who were the wealthiest. 
~Worker’s salaries increased but did not match the rate of the price increases and farmers were forced further into debt. 
~Immigration also became limited, reducing the number of workers in the economy. 
~Low interest rates.
DUST BOWL: Dust, which was picked up from the ground created ginormous clouds, making a storm that traveled far to where it covered everything in it's path, and buried many things. Kind of like a snow storm.
~Caused by severe drought, over farming, and mechanization.
AGRICULTURE ISSUES: 
~ Large dust storms were created.
~ There was no crop rotation.
~ The farmers were overproducing.
IMMIGRATION POLICIES: limited immigration from all the countries except Northern Europe.
~ Emergency Quota Act.
NATIVISM: 
Americans: they had rights to basically everything.
~ Workers were under the law, and while working they were safe and protected.
Immigrants: had many restrictions.
~ While working they were not safe and had no protection.

THE GREAT MIGRATION: African americans migrated to escape racism and to seek jobs from the South to the North together.
HARLEM RENAISSANCE:  African Americans came together and shared their culture, literature, art, music and more.
SACCO & VANZETTI: Italian Anarchists, who were involved in a trial because they were accused of being in many of the murders and violent acts that occurred. It was the Sacco and Vanzetti trial.
LABOR ISSUES: The Great Depression was starting up. This was when the soldiers would come back home, and had no job available. Also, because due to them being home, and so many of them, factories were getting to full so they had to fire some people which were mostly the women workers and also the immigrants.
THE RED SCARE: was a fear of communism. Bolshevik revolution cleaning up all of the corruption. People were afraid of people are un-American behaviors. *Especially those who were foreign.

~ Russia went away and the USSR was formed.
